Fatima and her family in Gaza need you
United Kingdom
My name is Alison McCants and I am raising funds on behalf of my friend Fatima and her family. All donations go to the family for essentials to help keep them alive, such as food and medicine.
Fatima is 30 years old and unmarried, and lives with her parents, who are in their fifties. She also lives with her older brother Moamen younger sister Asmaa, and youngest brother, Ayman.
Their father worked as a tailor. Fatima herself taught kindergarten. Her mother is a good woman with a good heart, who doesn’t like seeing injustice for anyone.
Fatima is used to living on very little. As a university student, she couldn’t afford to buy lunch. She would walk everywhere to save money.
But what they have experienced over the past two years exceeds the hardship of poverty. They have been displaced multiple times, sometimes in a four-metre cotton tent. It did little to protect them from the cold nights or rain, or the heat of the summer sun. For a year and three months, they lived together like this.
During the brief ceasefire earlier this year, they returned to their home in the north of Gaza. But then war resumed, alongside an increasingly harsh famine.
Being poor and working class even before the war, Fatima says they are often sick and do not have the money for medicine. Their teeth hurt – something many Gazans experience with the lack of nutritious food and basic healthcare.
Please help Fatima and her family survive this war. Without a way to earn an income, and with limited internet access, they rely on us to help them.
